WBCC Conducts Workshop on Difficult Workplace Conversations
Leesburg, VA – – – May 2, 2012 – – – Walks Beside Coaching & Consulting (WBCC), an accomplished coaching company with affiliate coaches in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC reported today their experience and results as workshop presenters for the annual conference of the Training Officers Consortium (TOC). Each year, trainers from federal agencies attend a multi-day conference to expand their skills through learning experiences, and product demonstrations from selected vendors. This year’s event was held at the Clarion Resort in Ocean City, Maryland, during April 22-25, 2012.
“We recognize that every day, each of us has the chance to be recognized as a ‘master’ of our personal and professional excellence, engaging in conversations that should be the showcase of our gifts in service to others. But what happens when we find that our efforts are sabotaged by abrupt conversation resulting in discussions that appear to be in conflict & confrontational? This is a principal part of our work with all industries or government agencies. We conducted a workshop titled, How to Have the Difficult Workplace Conversations Using the N.I.C.E. Model”, saidStephan Marais, an executive coach in the company.
WBCC has helped many companies with customized services for executives, and teams, in their ability to have difficult conversations without disrespect or anger. As many companies now have multi-cultural and multi-generational workforces, it not uncommon for senior staff and inexperienced managers to leave business conversations in high emotional states. As Stephan relates, “Whether to resolve conflict, dissolve team polarities or simply stop unacceptable behavior, our model of N.I.C.E., can be used as an instrument for resolution. We found that the majority of managers in our session had all experienced some kind of situation where their business conversation had been met with resentment or hostility.” Having been at C-level positions in several companies, WBCC brings their business experience to help organizations provide environments that foster conversations without blame, punishment or the fear of retribution.
WBCC constructs business solutions around the achievement of business goals, the renewal of burnt out workforces; and, the integration of a diverse generational labor force. These programs enable companies to synchronize ideas with clear language use for successful repeatable outcomes, both locally and nationally.
